Harmony Home is a refuge for people to come in off the streets. They can have a meal, a shower, and wash their clothes and as well get help with life issues. Of course, they can receive prayer. This warm loving home is a great place to call home during the day.
Henry Demers is the Founder/President of Harmony Home Ministry and is an ordained minister. Henry and Connie have been married, serving God together, for 29 years. Henry has a BA in Education and a THB in Administration from the college where he met Connie. His parents owned and operated Nursing Homes. They instilled in him and his siblings the importance of caring for others. For 14 years the Demers family has been adult fostering a handicap gentlemen who lives in their home. Connie has worked to bring meals to shut in for 12 years. Henry has over 25 years experience in social work. His last employment in the field was as a mental health clinician where he first began to feel called to love and serve the homeless population. He left his clinical work to run a program for 2 years for the homeless under another local ministry.
Their youngest daughter Gloriana is passionate about her dedication to serving children. Their eldest daughter Gracie is married to Kenny and have a newborn son - the new joy of the family. Both Kenny and Gracie serve as worship leaders in their community.
The Christmas Event generally takes place at the beginning of December. A large gathering of people attend a Christmas service, where there is a joyous Christmas worship and Christmas message. Following the service, lunch is provided. Next, guests have an opportunity to go shopping for various new Christmas items such as: sweatshirts, toiletries, gift cards, hats, sox, gloves, coats and many other new items. All guests will be assisted by volunteers from over 50 area churches/ministries, where items were donated.
Barbecue/ Cookout days where people can come and feel part of a family and a valued part of the community. Included: A live full band, Short message on “The Good Life”. To further express that we love our family, we will have fun, (fun activities) and share clothing. These are just few of the wonderful activities we put on for the homeless.
